Wedge View Country House and Spa is the unique combination of the luxury of a five star Guest House and the exclusivity and intimacy of a Country House.

Dutch National Track Cycling squad stays at WedgeView

The WedgeView Team is proud that the Dutch National Track Cycling squad "long disctance" under the management and coaching of former track cycling hero, Robert Slippens, had chosen to stay at WedgeView Country House & Spa for the 10 days training camp, beginning of December 2009. The WedgeView Team has greatly enjoyed to host potential next Olympic medal candidates cycling. It was impressive and great joy to see these young talented athletes in their "Orange Rabobank" outfits work very hard and do many hard hours on their bikes in the beautiful Cape Winelands. I am certain many people have looked in surprise when a Orange cycling train cycled past at high speed on the roads. According to the coach, WedgeView is the ideal place to stay for a quality and peaceful trainingcamp.

We hope that we have been able to contribute to the future succes of these young top athletes and we hope to see them and maybe their colleagues in the future for another succesful training camp at WedgeView in the Cape Winelands. The Cape Winelands has proven to also be an ideal cycling training area. Especcially the Stellenbosch area is very centrally located and has got all the required sports fascilities these top athletes require with the Sport Science Centre in Stellenbosch and many professional sports fascilities around.

We also had the pleasure of hosting another 2 cycling Teams from the KNWU (Dutch Cycling Association), the Dutch Ladies Road Selection and their management and the Dutch BMX Squad, for a beautiful South African Braai (bbq). Altogether we hosted 38 cyclists and their coaches on Monday the 7th of Dec and it was a great succes. I believe it gave every rider enough ernergy for the next training day.

We hope to see our new cycling friends at the top of the rankings at the Olympics, World Cups and other tournaments in the next couple of years.

We are ready to host another sports team or group of cyclist or other athletes at WedgeView Country House & Spa.
